Our Late Christmas Present - by Rick Spencer
Frances and I enjoyed a late Christmas Gift when our son, Richard II came to visit 7-17 January. It was his first time back since 2007. He was accompanied by his girlfriend Shannon. He spent time catching up with us and his sisters. He spent time in Richmond with Raychel and hanging out with Sharlene. Shannon was welcomed just like anyone else who comes to the house. After being shown where things were, she was expected to fend for herself!!
We spent lots of time talking, playing board games and playing Tennis and Bowling on the Wii. Frances and Shannon were winners at Texas Holdem’, Shannon and I were winners at bowling while Frances and I showed the youngsters how to do it “old school” in tennis.
Richard has been living in Sacramento, CA since January 2006. He has been supporting himself even though California has experienced some of the highest unemployment rates in the country. I think he must have been a bit tired and welcomed some quiet time as shown in the picture here:

Virginia Winter Wonderland - by Rick Spencer
Now for some of you, snowy weather is something you are accustomed to, but here is southern Virgina, we don’t normally get this kind of snow. With the weather people forecaster cold and heavy snow, the stores were packed with people buying bottled water and other staples with the anticipation of being snowed in at home and possible power outages. For me, I found it amusing to watch the “Panic”. It started snowing Saturday morning and snowed through the evening hours. During parts of the day, the winds gusted up to 30 mph. All total we received about 10 inches of snow. Many local areas reported record snow falls. Like I said, this may not seem like much snow for some of you, this was a lot for an area that only averages about 4 inches per year!

JORDAN
When we go shopping and pass by the bra sections, Jordan always says that she needs a bra. I have to explain that she isn’t ready for one or old enough, and it will be awhile before she is. So the other night she decided she would take matters into her own hands and make herself some breast out of grapefruits. When I saw her I almost fall on the floor. She knew exactly where to put the grapefruit. After laughing I had to tell her she still wasn’t ready for a bra or breast. Her imagination is something out of this world. She keeps me going. It’s something new every day.
