                     NEWSLETTER HELP PLEASE!!

People tell me how much they like the newsletter and to keep it going but not too many people send me things to share. I'm not asking you to send me something every month but please send me something. I know that I will be sharing what Jordan is doing but I don't think that all you want to hear about. This year Jordan and Warren will start pre-k, Jaylin will be in the 2nd grade, Sydnee starts high school and Spencer will graduate from high school. So this year will be pretty interesting  and exciting for us in Texas. So that gives me something to share, but I would like to hear from the rest of the family.

Richardson/Davis/Highgate Reunion –2010 -- Rick Spencer

We made our annual pilgrimage to the Cabin to attend the July 17th Richardson reunion. Frances and I were joined by Rob, Brenda, Keisha, Latende, Grant and Zaria.  Frances and I arrived on Thusday and did the normal housekeeping/clean-up/fix-up (trimming hedges, trees, replacing worn out items).   We hauled up a new futon frame from Virginia to replace the broken one.  (By the way, Frances and I had fish for breakfast Friday morning!)  The rest of the crew arrived on Friday and we relaxed and fished.  We went to the reunion and the weather was great.  Not too hot, not too cold — just right and of course, we saw our relatives.  Particularly Aunt Arlene and Aunt Grace.  They are amazing and vibrant women who love to talk with us and catch up on what has gone on in the past year.  As a retired teacher, Aunt Grace formed a special bond with Keisha (a teacher) who she had only heard about, but never seen.  There was lots of good food that was shared by all.  We brought KFC and homemade potato salad.  I  also brought some fall-off-the-bone ribs for our group and others who always make a point to see what we’ve brought!  As always, we made a “bee-line” straight to Aunt Arlene’s cherry pie and blueberry pie to ensure we got a piece before it was gone!  We even got a piece of strawberry –rhubarb pie that she had reserved.  There were individual family group pictures (Richardson, Davis, Highgate) and then one large reunion picture.  Unfortunately at lot of people were at the beach or otherwise missed the picture taking.  Keisha, Latende, Grant and Zaria headed back on Sunday because of other commitments.  We celebrated Frances’ birthday on Tuesday.  Cousin Angela came up from Detroit to visit and help celebrate.   Rob, Brenda, Frances and I locked up the cabin and left Wednesday morning.

Here are a few pictures from mom and dad's trip to Las Vegas to visit Aunt Paulette. The first 4 picture's are of them driving through Arizona. The first one dad is hanging out the window while mom is driving at about 80mph. The 4th picture is group of boyscouts, dad said the boy in the middle ran up to make sure he was in the picture. The 5th picture is of Herschel and Detrique (those are mom's knee's). The 6th picture is of Zerlina and Gabby showing off the braclet's that mom & dad gave them. The 7th & 8th picture is dad and mom standing on a pier when the temperature was 118 degrees. The 9th picture is of Herschel. The last picture is 3 generations of family, Gabby, David and Mom.
