                                        DEATH IN THE FAMILY

Ann Kersey passed away on March 29, 2010. Ann was married to Charles (Ene) Kersey. I didn't know her well but I remember her from last summer's family reunion. She was very nice. Ann was laid to rest at Highland Cemetery. Please keep her family in your prayers.

                                                                                                               NEW FAMILY MEMBER

Thomas & Rheata Battle became great-grandparents on March 29, 2010. The following is what she sent me.

                              IT’S A BOY!!!!

Leron Allan Parren was born at 9:11am on Monday, March 29 to Tiana Parren. Tiana is the eldest daughter of Kim Battle Warren.

The happy great-grandpa is Thomas Battle Jr. who along with his lovely wife; Rheata, were among the few celebrities to greet the tiny wonder into the world soon after his arrival.

The calm boy “wonder” showed dislike when grandpa referred to him as “bubbles” because he was blowing bubbles.

Little “wonder boy” is nearly 6 pounds and is 18 1/2 inches tall.

He knows his grandma Kim’s voice and her touch.

Welcome to the family Leron and congratulations Tiana and family!!!

Delaware Kersey’s Come to Virginia Beach – by Rick Spencer

Latende, Grant and Dwayne Henry with Aunt Betty as the always faithful cheer leader came to Virginia Beach, Virginia for a soccer tournament that Dwayne was playing in.  This is an annual tournament that teams from all over the east and some Midwest teams participate.

Dwayne’s team had not been able to practice outside or on full field this season because of the all the snow and rain that has occurred on the east coast this winter.  This was their first chance to play outside!

They tied the first game against a team from New York and won the next two.  Unfortunately, they didn’t get into the finals because of tie breakers but they had a good showing nonetheless.

Dwayne played defense and midfield and has good skills.  He was very noticeable on the field because of the “flop” hair still.  Dwayne normally gets assigned the other team’s most dangerous/fastest player and Dwayne shuts them down.  Dwayne is an even tempered young man and it shows on the field.  He is already a leader on the team even though he is one of younger team members.

Now about Aunt Betty!  Let’s just say LOUD.  She is the consummate soccer grand-mom, cheering when they make good plays and letting them know they can do better when they don’t play so well.  The other team parents knew Dwayne was her grandson and that Aunt Betty is be the only who could criticize him.  If any of the fans said anything about the Dwayne, they would have to answer to her.

After the first day of games, we went to Golden Corral and pigged out.

Frances and I had a great time watching Dwayne play and visiting with family.

                                                                                                        SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

Something’s that happen last month and they really have me thinking. My cousin Rheata wrote me one day about the birth of her great-grandson, then the next day wrote me about the death of a cousin. This world is so strange.  God brought a new life in the world then he took one to heaven all in the same day.

Tomorrow is not promised to any of us and we really need to make the best of each day. We need to make sure that we treat others the way we would want to be treated. I think that sometimes we say things to others before we really think about how it sounds or if it will hurt someone’s feeling. I know that when I’m not feeling well I tend to lash out. Then I always feel bad. So I have been working on me. I do believe that there are people in the world that live to hurt others, that’s because they have been hurt in the pass and this is their way of not getting hurt again. Those kinds of people really need to work on themselves (maybe get help from someone). It just takes a few seconds to think before you talk. Keep that in mind the next time you think you might hurt someone. These are just my thoughts and things that have been on my mind.

I’m going to end for this month. Talk to you all next month.

Love,

Kim
